I highly recommend staying along Sukhumvit Road along the BTS line (it runs along the map’s green line). Yes, cabs are very easy to get in Bangkok, but traffic is horrible there. According to CNN, Bangkok is the 15th worst city for traffic in the world. You do not want to waste your vacation in traffic. The BTS, the Bangkok Transit System, is super easy and flies above the traffic. If you could get a hotel near Siam Square, Chit Lom, Ploen Chit, Nana, Asok, Phrom Phong, Thong Lo, Ekkamai, Phra Khanong, or On Nut, you will be very conveniently located to the BTS. Lumpini and Silom are also a nice area, and they run along with the subway system. This area you can transfer to the BTS at Asok.
